Aleksandra, or Aleks, seems to have it all figured out: a full-time yogi living a healthy, purposeful life. But this wasn't always the case: she was a "super skinny model" and had an unfulfilling nine-to-five corporate worklife.
How did Aleks break free from the fat-shaming in the fashion and modelling industry? What transformed her forever?
Aleks is ready to peel off the layers! Read more about how she redefined her relationship with health.

A former fashion model who later worked in a fashion corporate job, Aleks experienced both having an unfulfilling job and working in an industry where beauty and health were synonymous with “the skinnier the better”.
But in a too-good-to-be-true Eat, Pray, Love fashion, a trip to India and an encounter with yoga in 2011 changed everything.
“For the first time in my life, I felt an improvement in my overall health”. This led to Aleks embarking on a journey of health and immersed herself in the practice, to an extent that yoga became more important than her job. “It became harder to juggle the two without dropping the ball on one”. But it was obvious: yoga aligned with her values and desire to live a meaningful life.
Many of us may relate to the dilemma of choosing between a stable salary and a spiritual calling. But for Aleks, it became apparent to take a leap of faith and explore a career that fed her physical, spiritual and emotional needs. It was time to get off the hamster wheel - her job wasn't feeding the void in her spirit.
Despite the fear of stepping out of her comfort zone, Aleks decided to fully immerse herself into yoga and holistic health. “It was a challenging transition full of growing pain, but one with no regrets'”. Like stretches in yoga practices, the pain was temporary while the strength it came with is long-lasting. For that, Aleks never looked back, and has since then been focusing on inner health as her key to living fully.
Aleks' career as a healthpreneur not only fulfills her, but also empowers those who get to experience her teachings. An all-rounded approach to wellbeing was her key to happiness.
Driven by the need to inspire others to live for themselves, Aleks often reminds her students to be more gentle with themselves instead of pursuing unrealistic beauty and health standards. “I do what I do because we only have one life, in this one body”. She cannot stress enough of how there is no competition in health, no one-for-all formula to health and beauty, and that within ourselves we are enough.
Throughout her journey of health, Aleks has been intuitive about what her body prefers. But to back her health plan with science and find out what really works for her, she decided to give DNA testing a try. Her first reaction upon receiving the results? “I was blown away by the vast amount of insights. It saved me years of trial-and-error”.
Aleks’ results confirmed that she has a high sensitivity to both fat and carbohydrates, and is inclined to optimum sport with low power and low endurance. The report also affirmed her love for veganism and yoga: “It was like my body was saying, 'Yes, this is it! This is what I want to do!'”
This led her to finally stop wondering which health and wellness plan is best for her. The DNA test gave Aleks some peace of mind - “being emotionally at ease is just as important as my physical health. I no longer struggle through hits-and-misses and what I need to do more or less of.”
The genetic test also inspired Aleks to keep pursuing the journey that she is on. Finally, she isn't just relying on intuition alone. This reassurance is a vote of confidence on her health choices, and eliminate doubts or guesswork to optimise health.
It may have taken Aleks years to discover what her body needed to reach the peak of holistic health and wellness, but fortunately, with the help of CircleDNA, Aleks can now enjoy immediate success by eliminating trial-and-error from the equation. Now a travelling yoga teacher, Aleks is fuelled by her passion to take her Bamboo yoga practice to the world.
If there is anything that Aleks teaches aside from yoga, it is this one simple message: that health is a journey, not a moment.
Today, Aleks genuinely wants to help other people live their life to the fullest. Like a sacred temple, she believes our bodies - mind, body and spirit - need to be taken care of in order for them to enable us live a fulfilling life. “All you have is this one body. You have one shot to do this life the healthiest and happiest way possible”.
Aleks chose her own path to health. <br/>Have you embarked on yours?
